Our Surf Academy

We are a surfing academy from Maui, HI now open in Encinitas, San Diego, CA. My name is Matt Allen and I am privileged to have taught surfing for close to a decade now in Lahaina, Maui for Kimo Kinimaka at The Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy. When his uncle Titus opened Titus Kinimaka's Hawaiian School of Surfing in Hanalei, Kauai I was again privileged to travel between islands teaching and learning all aspects of traditional surfing and stand-up paddle surfing from two legends of the industry. I was so lucky and blessed to be able to learn from Kimo, Titus, and this great family of watermen to strengthen and improve my own skills in the sport. I have opened Maui Surf Academy to share my passion for the ocean and to hopefully keep the experience true to its' Hawaiian roots while passing on the spirit of aloha. See you in the water!
